On a side note... if you attended the Harry Potter family night held at the Children's Kiva Montessori school a few years ago... that was Emily!
She and I worked together along w/ our good friend Sara to create an evening that families could enjoy together. If you were there, make sure to say "Hello"!

FAQs

What will my daughter be doing at the workshop? The Girl Power Workshop is all about empowering the next generation of girls to have confidence in themselves and to recognize the relationships in their lives that can help them to be courageous in tough situations. The girls will be able to express themselves creatively through a couple of art projects, and theater games. They will be able to hear from three incredible women speaking on the themes of "Courage to be Grateful," "Face the Fear and Move Forward," and "Courage from Sources of Strength". The girls will also experience a simple cooking class and work together to create their own lunch and a healthy(ish) snack. We will also work in some music and movement breaks. Each girl will receive a Power Packet of activities to bring home as well.
What is the mask policy for the workshop?
Because the majority of the workshop attendees are not eligible for the COVID-19 vaccination, we will follow current CDC and State of Colorado guidelines for mask wearing. Masks will not be required for workshop participants. However, masks are welcome while we are inside the building. (See below)
What are the CDC's current recommendations regarding settings with children? ● We encourage masks over the nose and mouth for students 2 to 10 years old, including
during in-person instruction (including sitting at desks) and extracurricular activities,
unless the student has a medical intolerance, disability, or education reason for not
wearing a mask. However, mask-wearing for children age 2 to 10 is not required.

COVID-19 STATEWIDE MASK ORDER FAQ 051921 5
When are masks not required in schools?
● Fully vaccinated members of a classroom, cohort, or other group of children may
remove their masks if the teacher(s), caregiver(s), or other staff whose primary
responsibility is education or childcare have provided proof of vaccination to their
employer.
● Staff and students do not need to wear masks while eating, but they should continue
to social distance.
● Students ages 2-10: The Executive Order does not require masks for this age group. If
local orders require masks for this age group, check the local order for clarification on
requirements in educational settings.
● Students ages 11 and older: A mask is not required while outside for recess or
exercise.
● Masks may be temporarily removed if they interfere with special educational needs,

CDPHE removes requirement for schools to enforce mask use The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment released an updated public health order removing the requirement for schools to enforce masks for students and staff. It also removed the requirement that schools should follow the CDPHE's outbreak guidance.
Will social distancing practices be followed? Yes, we will be holding the workshop in the M-CMS cafeteria and theater room where we can allow for physical distancing. Weather permitting, we will also make use of our outdoor space for some of the activities.
Does my daughter need to bring a lunch? Lunch will be provided. If your daughter has specific dietary needs (ie gluten-free, dairy-free, etc) please have her bring a lunch. Otherwise we will be cooking and eating lunch together.
